Detailed Descriptions
Program Review

Following your institution’s template (or providing one, if you prefer), Bill will
assess any and all aspects of program quality that are appropriate for your
purposes: academic content and outcomes, student services and supervision,
health, safety and responsibility, management and logistics.

Staff Training

Bill provides training for overseas staff directly involved in delivery of a program
and for stateside staff providing support services.  Modules are available to match
the needs of various types of staff.  A faculty member serving as resident director
for the first time may be up to speed on what’s required academically, but may
need help with the day-to-day issues that arise in program management;  a
seasoned study abroad adviser may be an expert in professional matters but
perhaps could benefit from a thorough review of academic principles.  A brand
new staff member may need both.

Strategic Planning

A thorough review of assumptions and basic goals is beneficial to an organization
at any phase of development.  New organizations will receive expert guidance as
they explore the intricacies of the study abroad enterprise.  A mature organization
can benefit from an outside perspective as they reassess everything they do,
confirming some prior assumptions and practices and perhaps modifying others.

Safety Audit

Based on  principles developed by the Inter-organizational Task Force on Safety
and Responsibility in Study Abroad (which Bill helped create and chaired during
its formative years), and on materials from  a FEMA certificate course, Bill will
provide a thorough examination of both on-campus and on-location practices
related to health, safety, responsibility, and crisis response.
